Africa's Largest Landlocked Country

This, as the Duke of Wellington might have said, is a damned close–run thing.

According to World Atlas.com, Chad is the third largest landlocked country in the world (after Kazakhstan and Mongolia), with an area of 1.284 million square kilometres. Nigeria is the fourth largest, with an area of 1.267 million square kilometers; Mali (1.240 million) is fifth, and Ethiopia (1.104 million) is sixth.

Chad is the fifth largest country in Africa – after Algeria, DR Congo, Sudan and Libya.
